Elcesaites

The Elke strings or Elchasaiten were an Aramaic Christian Baptist church, which was built around 100 in Transjordan and spread in Syria.

Her cult was one next to the ( repeated ) Baptism is also a celebration of the Eucharist ( Holy Communion ), whose bread differed decidedly from the bread of the Church ( Azyma ). It dietary laws have been complied with (no wheat bread) and cultic laws, so that the faith community was considered Jewish Christian.

Because of this identification, early Christian authors assume that the Elke strings were circumcised. However, the parallels to the Mandaeans, the circumcision just as most Christians reject strictly, this can doubt. Well there was a strong rejection of the Greek-speaking Christianity.

According to the Cologne Mani Manikodex belonged to his father to Elke strings, of which he soon turned away to start his own religion, Manichaeism.
