Electoral Commission of South Africa

The South African Independent Electoral Commission (IEC ), the Election Commission of their country. It was formed as part of the interim constitution adopted in 1993. For the 1994 elections held the first post-apartheid period, in addition to eleven domestic and five foreign members were employed. The Commission subsequently monitored these and all subsequent elections at national, provincial and local levels.

In addition to the conduct of elections and the announcement of the results, the IEC is also responsible for the registration of political parties and the administration of state funding of political parties.

The seat of the IEC is Pretoria, further maintains offices in all provinces of South Africa.
