Electron holography

Electron holography is a method of electron microscopy, can be reached by extremely high resolutions.

Operation

Electron in the electron beam is split with an electric biprism into two partial beams. A partial beam penetrates the object under examination, the other partial beam passes undisturbed. On the screen, the two partial beams combine to form an interference pattern, the electron hologram. This contains all the information of the electron wave. Using a computer can be reconstructed amplitude and phase to give the complex image wave. This can be represented as a phase image or amplitude image.

High resolution

The method can be used for high-resolution transmission electron microscopy. For this purpose, the image defects caused by the magnetic lens, calculated out numerically.
