Eleni Konsolaki

Eleni Eleni Konsolaki also Konsolaki - Giannopoulou (Greek Ελένη Κονσολάκη also Ελένη Κονσολάκη - Γιαννοπούλου, English:. Eleni Konsolaki - Yannopoulou ) is a Greek classical archaeologist.

As a scientist at the Ephorie ( Monuments Authority) is responsible for the region Trizinia / Poros / Methana. She is active in the region since about 1986. During this time she worked on especially with the preservation of the ancient monuments of the region. Special attention they received through their excavation and research work at the 1990 Methana discovered Mycenaean sanctuary. She describes in her research by, amongst others, over 150 Tonidole prehistoric deities. Sensational was her discovery of a child's grave within the sanctuary. She especially the Greek State points out that the Methana peninsula was archaeologically protected. Mainly it is to their credit that the Methana peninsula was noted archaeologically protected zone.

In recent years, she explored the Mycenaean Acropolis Maghoula at Galatas ( near the island of Poros ). They discovered several Mycenaean domed tombs, which show that the region around Troizen not only in ancient times was of great importance. The more progress the research, the clearer are the correlations of the Mycenaean era and the Minoan era. Eleni Konsolaki - Giannopoulou published their research at the conference on the history of the Saronic Gulf in 1998 on the island of Poros. Her research activity has contributed much to the history.
