Eleuchadius

Eleuchadius (also: Eleucadius ) ( † 112 in Ravenna) was an early bishop of Ravenna.

Eleuchadius was of Greek origin. He should of Apollinaris, the first bishop of Ravenna, have been converted to Christianity. Followers of Apollinaris was a Aderitus and after his death the Christians are, according to legend have asked Ravenna God himself, to give them a sign, who should become the new bishop. Then a dove was released, which had settled on the head of the Eleuchadius. This was known for his learning and eloquence. As bishop, he introduced the daily and nightly Officium. After his death in 112 Marcian succeeded him in the episcopate.
