Elf Fantasy Fair

The Elf Fantasy Fair is an outdoor event, which takes place every year since 2001 in April in Haarzuilens and since 2009 also in September in Arcen in the Netherlands.

History

The entire event (Event) revolves around the theme of " Fantasy". On the grounds of a historic park or the castle are long to see different fantasy stalls, activities and Fantasy Fantasy shows two to three days.

Also guests are as well-known fantasy artist, fantasy writers or actors from fantasy films present. Many visitors, both children and adults to dress up as fantasy characters: characters from movies, books or self-created characters. One of the traditional highlights of the event is a battle between two groups.

The Elf Fantasy Fair was first held in 2001 at the theme park Archeon in Alphen aan den Rijn. 7500 people came at that time to authors like Robert Jordan, Terry Pratchett and artists to see how Brian Froud.

2002 and 2003 the Elf Fantasy Fair was on the extensive lands of Kasteel de Haar in Haarzuilens, the Netherlands, organized. 2004 pulled the Elf Fantasy Fair then once to the large parking area Keukenhof in Lisse order, returned in 2005 but returned to the grounds of Kasteel de Haar. Visitor numbers have increased over time to 23 500 visitors.

The idea for the Elf Fantasy Fair was developed in 2001 by organizer Stefan Struik and implemented directly. To date, there is still Struik, who heads the organization. In addition to the Elf Fantasy Fair Stefan Struik also managed four Fantasy shops and an online shop. These, however, have been closed or sold, as Struik has decided to devote himself entirely to the Elf Fantasy Fair.

Since the success of the Elf Fantasy Fair, there are other festivals in the Netherlands, such as the Castle Festival at Keukenhof, the Midwinter Fair Archeon and a second Elf Fantasy Fair in Arcen.
