Elisabeth Charlotte of Anhalt-Harzgerode

Elisabeth Charlotte of Anhalt- Harzgerode (* February 11, 1647; † January 20, 1723 ) was by marriage Princess of Anhalt- Köthen first and then Duchess of Schleswig -Holstein -Sonderburg- Norburg.

Life

She was the daughter of Prince Friedrich of Anhalt- Harzgerode and his first wife Johanna Elisabeth of Nassau- Hadamar. She was first married to Wilhelm Ludwig of Anhalt- Köthen, 1665 widow and then married Augustus of Schleswig -Holstein -Sonderburg- Plön.

In her second marriage they had the following children:

  • Joachim Friedrich (1668-1722)
  • Auguste Elisabeth (1669-1709), a nun in Herford
  • Sophie Charlotte (1672-1720)
  • Christian Karl (* August 20, 1674, † May 23 1706 ) ∞ Dorothea Christina von Aichelberglifte ( 1674-1762 ), from 1702 wife of Charles Stone, 1722 Princess of Denmark

After the death of her second husband, she lived on the widow seat lock Østerholm on Als. In the dispute over the legality of the marriage of Christian Karl and the capability succession of his son it was one of the supporters of her daughter and former maid Dorothea Christina.
