Elisabeth of Brandenburg-Küstrin

Elisabeth of Brandenburg- Kuestrin ( born August 29, 1540 in Kuestrin; † March 8, 1578 in Warsaw) was a Princess of Brandenburg- Kuestrin and by marriage Margravine of Brandenburg -Ansbach and Brandenburg- Kulmbach.

Life

Elizabeth was the older of the two daughters of Margrave John of Brandenburg- Kuestrin (1513-1571) from his marriage to Catherine (1518-1574), daughter of Duke Henry II of Brunswick- Wolfenbüttel.

Elisabeth married on December 26, 1558 Kuestrin Margrave George Frederick of Brandenburg -Ansbach ( 1539-1603 ). For Duke Albrecht Friedrich knew Elizabeth's husband since 1577 as governor of the regency in the Duchy of Prussia.

Elizabeth died while staying at the Warsaw court, where Georg Friedrich Herzog dignity should be conferred by the Polish King Stephen Báthory. Elizabeth was buried in Königsberg Cathedral. Her husband was at the Dutch sculptor Willem van the Bloche the grave monument in order, which was completed in 1582 and built as a " governor monument" in Königsberg Cathedral.
