Eliseo Álvarez

Eliseo Álvarez ( born July 27, 1940 in Salto, † 1999) was a Uruguayan football player.

Playing career

Association

The 1.68 meter tall defender actor Álvarez, who in his hometown was in his youth in rows of clubs Ferrocarrils, was in the years 1957-1965 the squad montevideanischen club Nacional in La Liga on. National

Álvarez was also a member of the senior national team of Uruguay, for which he completed six caps between 30 May 1962 to 26 June 1966. An international goal he did not achieve. With Celeste, he participated in the 1962 FIFA World Cup. There he came in in all three group games used. In the encounter against the Soviet selection he broke his in the first half, the fibula, but refused to be taken to hospital. Nevertheless a result, he was successfully operated on. Since that time were still no change, he played until the final whistle standing further than left spearhead. At the World Cup tournament in 1966, he was also in the Uruguayan squad.
