Elixier

Elixir is a German-language musical, which premiered in 1997 at the Leipzig musical comedy directed by Horst Königstein. The music is by Tobias Kuenzel and Wolfgang Lenk ( The Prince ), wrote the lyrics Künzels wife, author Kati Naumann. The main characters were at that time in addition to Tobias Künzelmann Sandra Baschin and Dirk Darmstaedter.

Action

The musical takes place in 1978. In the GDR industrial city of Bitterfeld, the young chemist David works. He lives for science and want to find the formula for eternal youth. He does not notice how his friend Hagen deceives him. David falls in love with the dancer Betti. Also Hagen interested in Betti, but the raves for David's intelligence and independence. David now wants to do with his quest for the youth elixir Bettis beauty everlasting. Together with Betti he wants to try the remedy. But the test fails, their problems get out of hand, and finally, the two lose sight of.

Twenty years later, much has changed in the city. The clever Hagen is head of a chemical company, David is one of his employees. Suddenly appears a youthful Betti, and the amorous magic of 1978 is revived. But Betti disappears as quickly as it came, and David sinks into nostalgic memories. Also Hagen has remarked Betti and is electrified: Has the elixir that time but worked? If David Betti awarded - or she decides to Hagen?

After forty sold-out performances in 1998 in Leipzig in 2008, the musical was successful on the comedy Dresden to the performance.
