Elizabeth Goudge

Elizabeth Goudge ( born April 24, 1900 in Wells, Somerset, † April 1, 1984 in Rotherfield Peppard ) was an English writer. It was the little white horse known primarily for the children's book.

Life

After her birth in the English Wells, she moved with her ​​family to Ely. When her father, Henry Leighton Goudge was appointed Regius Professor of Divinity in 1923 at Oxford Christ Church College, she followed her parents to Oxford. As a freelance writer since 1966, she lived until her death withdrawn in Rotherfield, Oxfordshire.

Work

After her first book, The Fairies ' Baby and Other Stories in 1919 had little success, she published only in 1934 with Iceland Magic ( German: Island Magic ) her second album. 1946 she was awarded the traditional Carnegie Medal for The Little White Horse. The book was made ​​into a film in 1994 under the title of Moonacre for British television; the newer movie version celebrated under the title The Secret of Moonacre ( The Secret of Moonacre ) 2008 premiere. The 1944 published novel Green Dolphin Country was also filmed as Green Dolphin Street 1947 and won the Oscar for special effects.
