Elizaphan Ntakirutimana

Elizaphan Ntakirutimana (* 1924 in Kibuye, Rwanda, † January 22, 2007 in Arusha, Tanzania ) was a pastor of the Seventh- day Adventist Church in Rwanda.

In February 2003 Ntakirutimana and his son Gerard were found by the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda of genocide in Rwanda, guilty. The Tribunal considered it proven that Ntakirutimana had armed troops to Mugonero complex, a location close to the Lake Kivu, transported, where they killed hundreds of Tutsi refugees. Ntakirutimana was sentenced to ten years in prison. On 6 December 2006 he was released after ten years in prison.

A letter to the seven Seventh- day Adventist pastors wrote to Ntakirutimana, provided the title of the book published in 1998 We would like to inform you that we are being killed tomorrow with our families the author Philip Gourevitch. In the book Ntakirutimana is accused of complicity in the death of the refugees.

Elizaphan Ntakirutimana died on 22 January 2007 at the age of 82 years.
