Elizur K. Hart

Elizur Kirke Hart ( born April 8, 1841 in Albion, Orleans County, New York, † February 18, 1893 ) was an American politician. Between 1877 and 1879 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Elizur Hart graduated from the Albion Academy and worked in the banking industry. He later became a director of the Company Niagara Falls International Bridge Co. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Democratic Party launched a political career. In 1872 he was a deputy in the New York State Assembly.

In the congressional elections of 1876 Hart was in the 30th electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he succeeded the Republican John M. Davy on March 4, 1877. Since he resigned in 1878 to further candidacy, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1879.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Hart took his previous activities on again. In 1882 he founded the Rochester Post- Express, which he became president. Between 1890 and 1893 he was also president of the Orleans County National Bank. He died on February 18, 1893 in Albion, where he was also buried.
