Ella Raines

Ella Wallace Raines ( born August 6, 1920 in Snoqualmie Falls, Washington; † 30 May 1988 in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles, California ) was an American actress.

Life

The daughter of an engineer studied after high school drama and went to New York, where she was first successes on Broadway. In 1943 she went to Hollywood and was with Corvette 225 K, on the side of Randolph Scott, her film debut. Enjoyed great success the actress in 1944 in You, Man with Franchot Tone and Under Suspicion starring Charles Laughton as a partner. In both films, she played the female lead.

1957 joined the artist, who was incidentally also seen in TV productions from acting back. A brief comeback they had in 1984 in the television series Matt Houston.

Private

Ella Raines was married from 1942 to 1945 with Kenneth Trout. Her second husband was the famous aviator pilot Robin Olds. From this marriage (1947-1975) had two children. The actress died in 1988 of throat cancer.
