Ellen Fiedler

Ellen Fiedler ( * November 26, 1958 in Demmin as Ellen Neumann ) is a former German track and field athlete and Olympic medalist ( starting for the GDR ).

Life

Ellen Fiedler in 1981, 1982 and 1983 East German champion in the 400 - meter hurdles. She won over the 400 meters hurdles at the World Athletics Championships 1980 Silver behind Bärbel Broschat, also from the GDR. At the World Championships 1983, she was third. In 1986, she ran at the European Championships in sixth place.

Then she ended her career, but returned after a half year break. At the Olympic Summer Games in Seoul in 1988, she won the bronze medal in the 400 - meter hurdles behind the Australian Debbie Flintoff -King ( gold) and Tazjana Ljadouskaja (Silver) from the USSR. For this achievement, she was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze.

Ellen Fiedler started for the SC Dynamo Berlin. She had a competition weight of 66 kg at a height of 1.76 m. In the becoming public knowledge after the fall of documents to the state doping in the GDR was found in the doped athletes also the name of Fiedler.
