Elliot Forbes

El ( Liot ) Forbes ( born August 30, 1917 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, † January 10, 2006 ) was an American musicologist.

Life

Forbes taught from 1947 to 1958 at Princeton University, and then moved on to Harvard University, where he held the post of Fanny Peabody Professor of Music until his retirement in 1984. In the 1960s, he headed the Harvard Glee Club and the Radcliffe Choral Society. Forbes became known, with which he auswies primarily for his revision of the Beethoven biography of Alexander Wheelock Thayer as Beethoven expert.
