Elliot Valenstein

Elliot Valenstein Spiro ( born December 9, 1923 in New York City ) is an American neurobiologist who has done research at the University of Michigan. In his books on the history of brain research, he is critical of the biologically oriented concepts of mental illness. In " Blaming the Brain" he points to the major weaknesses of the neurotransmitter theories of depression and schizophrenia.

In the book " The War of the Soups and the Sparks " Valenstein describes the history of the synapse research.
