Elliott 6m

The Elliott 6m was established in November 2008 in Spain by the International Sailing Federation as a new Olympic class for the 2012 Olympic Games in London. The sailing competitions were held in Weymouth (Dorset), in which the class of boat was used for the Women's Match Racing. At the meeting of ISAF on May 7, 2011, Elliott was removed from the Olympic program in 2016 initially 6m again.

The keelboat was designed by New Zealander Greg Elliott in 2000 and modified by numerous high-level match racing events in 2008 even further. This rig and sail area compared to the original version have been adapted so that it comes with three crew members ( with a total of 205 kg total weight) is used at higher wind speeds. Since then, it is also possible to replace the previously fixed keel against a lifting keel or a removable keel.

The first modified boats were produced in collaboration with Elliott Marine of the Australian boating equipment McConaghy Boats in Zhuhai, China. This boat was first used in the field of ISAF at the Kiel Week 2009, with Katie Spithill, Nina Curtis and Nicole Douglass (Australia) emerged as the first winner. The ISAF Sailing World Championships 2011, which have been organized for the third time, was the women's match race with Elliott 6m as the key qualification to participate in the Olympic Games in London 2012.
