Elma Electronic AG, headquartered in Wetzikon is an internationally active Swiss manufacturer of electronic packaging products for the electronics industry. The group employs 706 people and generated 2011 sales of 118 million Swiss francs. The company is listed on the Swiss Exchange SIX Swiss Exchange.

Field of activity

The company develops and manufactures single - and system solutions. The modular product range includes components for 19 " mechanics, modular enclosures, cabinets and backplanes up to complete structured systems. The system range covers all common system architectures, such as MicroTCA, OpenVPX and CompactPCI Serial. The systems are customized on request adjusted. Moreover Elma provides rotary switch forth for use in electronic assemblies.

History

The company was founded in 1960 as a sole proprietorship in Monchaltorf. 1965 it expanded with the establishment of a subsidiary in Munich Germany. 1970 Elma moved its headquarters to Wetzikon. In 1974 the company was taken over completely by the Sulzer Corporation. With the establishment of a subsidiary Elma expanded in 1985 in the U.S., where it in 1990 another subsidiary founded.

In 1996 the company was re- dissolved out of the Sulzer Corporation and went public with an IPO. In 2000 the company established more subsidiaries in France, Israel and England and has made acquisitions in Germany and Romania. The expansion continued in 2004 with the founding of a subsidiary in China as well as a corporate takeover in the U.S. continue, which was followed by a further acquisition in England in 2005.
