Elmer Sleight

Elmer Noble "Red" Sleight ( born July 8, 1907 in Morris, Illinois, USA; † August 9, 1978 ) was an US- American football player. He played in the National Football League ( NFL) with the Green Bay Packers.

Playing career

Sleight studied from 1927 to 1929 at Purdue University, where he played American football. In 1929 he was elected as a football player for the All American virtue of its performance. Sleight thus became the first player from Purdue University who was elected in Football Sport for All-American. In 1930 he was honored by the College Football his team for his sporting achievements and participated in the East - West Shrine Game, a game for the best college player of the year, in part.

In 1930 he was hired by the Green Bay Packers. For the Packers, he was of players from the All-Pro players LaVern Dilweg and Cal Hubbard. Under Head Coach Curly Lambeau Sleight won its first NFL championship with the Packers in 1930. The Packers were able to win 10 of 14 games. The following year the Packers after 12 wins in 14 games could defend her title and Red Sleight thus won his second NFL championship. After two years in Green Bay, he finished his career.

Honors

Red Sleight is a member of the Purdue Intercollegiate Athletics Hall of Fame.
