On the recommendation of the Homeland Association Elsnigk eV council decided the following symbols in the coat of arms include: a conical branch - in allusion to the place name. Chimney - is reminiscent of the long-standing symbol of Elsnigk, the chimney of the former sugar factory. Ears - as a reference to agriculture and hammer and chisel - in connection to the mining industry. As tinctures gold and blue were chosen, with blue reflecting off the water, because by the lignite mines many ponds and small lakes were created in the environment of the community.

The coat of arms was designed by Jörg Kommunalheraldiker Mantzsch and out into the approval process.
