Elvis Presley is the debut album by Elvis Presley, released in March 1956. It was the first rock and roll album, which climbed to number one on the charts.

History

The album was released on the label RCA Victor in mono. The album was recorded on 10 and 11 January 1956 in the RCA Recording Studios in Nashville, Tennessee, and on 30 and 31 January at RCA Studios in New York City. In Sun Studio in Memphis, Tennessee in 1955 were more pieces on 5 July, 19 August and September 10, 1954 and on July 11 was recorded.

Success and criticism

Bruce Eder of Allmusic gave the album five out of five stars and the award " AMG Album Pick". Elvis Presley was a " sensational debut album " as it did not have one given. It represents all the influences on Presley's music except gospel - rockabilly, blues, rhythm and blues, country and pop. The side Sputnik Music gave a detailed discussion of the fixed employee Dave Donnelly five out of five stars. The album reached # 1 on the Billboard pop album and number one in the UK. It was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.

Cover

The cover was chosen of all time by Rolling Stone magazine ranked 40 of the 100 best cover. On 39th function based on that the cover of Elvis Presley version of the motif of The Clash's London Calling came.
