Ely State Prison

The Ely State Prison is a prison in the U.S. state of Nevada, 15 km north of Ely in White Pine County. The prison was built in two time segments, the first of which was completed in August 1989 and the second in November 1990. According to the original plan of the building complex for 1054 prisoners was applied, the capacity has since been extended to 1150 but occupants. The correctional facility is classified as maximum security in the classification of the U.S. prison system. The State of Nevada brings there among the prisoners who are sentenced to death.

The prison has a staff strength of 406 employees and is one of the main employers in the economically underdeveloped region.

The production plant, which is connected to the prison since 1991, specializes in the production of drapery. Experts in the field take care of the maintenance of a high quality standards, so that even equipment for passenger trains and ocean vessels are manufactured.
