Elya Baskin

Elya Baskin ( born August 11, 1950 in Riga, USSR ) is an American actor of Latvian origin.

Life and work

After the Riga-born Elya Baskin had completed his training as an actor in Moscow and there won a prize as best young actor, he starred in several Soviet television and movie productions.

Elya Baskin in 1976 emigrated to the United States, where he was also naturalized later, and continued his career as an actor. Due to its Latvian origin and related accent he often played Russian or Eastern European characters in movies.

A wider audience was Elya Baskin for his roles as Maxim Brajlovsky in 2010: The year known, We Make Contact (1984 ) and as the healer of St. Severinus Emmeram in The Name of the Rose (1986); the predominantly younger audience then also for his roles as landlord of Peter Parker in Spider- Man 2 and Spider-Man 3
