Elza Kephart

Elza Kephart ( born May 27, 1976 in Montreal, Canada ) is a Canadian screenwriter, film director and film producer of horror films.

Life and achievements

Kephart graduated in 1998 a degree in Communication Studies at Emerson College in Boston with a Bachelor of Fine Arts ( BFA), then returned to her hometown of Montreal and founded in 2000 together with her girlfriends Andrea Stark and Patricia Gomez, the production company Bastard Amber Productions, which since then mainly focused on genre productions.

Her first work, the staged of her TV series Naughty Soxxx, was produced specifically for CBCs Canadian television Zed TV, a now-defunct platform that used the Internet as a medium to accommodate submission Short films in their program. The four-part mini- series was first aired in Spring 2002 and then ran on smaller film festivals. With their first full-length feature film, Graveyard Alive, a " kind of Soap Opera in the zombie milieu feminist impact ," she won in 2004 a prize for the best camera work at the Slamdance Film Festival.

She has since worked as an assistant director or production assistant, also common in U.S. productions to realize their film ideas.
