Embassy of Madagascar in Falkensee

The Malagasy Embassy in Falkirk is the diplomatic mission of Madagascar in Germany. It also represents Malagasy interests in Austria, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Iceland. The embassy building is located in the edge area of Berlin outside the city limits on the lakeside promenade on the banks of 92 Falkenhagener lake in the Brandenburg town of Falkirk. It is the only resident embassy in Brandenburg.

History of diplomatic relations

Madagascar has since 1961, shortly after the state had obtained its independence from France, diplomatic relations with the Federal Republic of Germany. The first message of the state in Bonn was in a purpose-built office buildings in the district Rüngsdorf established ( → entry in message list). Since December 2001, is the embassy of the country in Falkirk. Accredited Ambassador of Madagascar is Radafiarisoa Léa Raholinirina.

Architecture

With the building of the embassy building Madagascar and also erected on the property Residence of the Ambassador of Madagascar architect Henri Randrianarisoa was commissioned, which was implemented by the German Fundamenta Baupartner GmbH. Randrianarisoa based his conception mainly due to the built in the 17th century Royal Palace in Antananarivo, capital of Madagascar, and added elements of colonial and modern Malagasy design. The central for the Merina Dynasty royal palace constitutes the most important secular and religious symbol of the country

The embassy building has three storeys and a nearly square base, which is emphasized by the four Risalitelemente at the corners. The entire house is decorated in a rich red earth tone to demonstrate the brick-red earth of the country. The front is determined by the central entrance area over which a ajar on the coat of arms of Madagascar big label is affixed. The facade concludes with a balustrade of tiny columns in the European Baroque style. Behind it rises a typical design for the Malagasy and steep shingled roof tent.
