Emblingia

Emblingia calceoliflora is the only species of the monotypic genus Emblingia, the only genus of the family of Emblingiaceae within the order of Kreuzblütlerartigen ( Brassicales ). It is endemic in Western Australia.

Description

Emblingia calceoliflora a low-growing, slightly woody, perennial herbaceous plant that is often a little succulent. The more or less opposite, stalked leaves are simple with a smooth margin. The stipules are tiny.

The solitary flowers are hermaphroditic and strongly zygomorphic. There are five different sizes, intergrown sepals present. The only two petals are shaped differently. The flower color can be white, cream, pink be yellow, green or. There are eight or nine stamens present, only four of which are fertile, the others are staminodes. It's just a constant upper carpel present which is double leaf. Stamen and carpel sitting on a bent Androgynophor.
