Emi Watanabe

Emi Watanabe (Japanese渡 部 絵 美, Emi Watanabe, born August 27, 1959 in Tokyo Prefecture ) is a former Japanese figure skater who started in a single run.

Watanabe is the daughter of a Japanese father and a Filipino mother. It was from 1973 to 1980 Japanese champion in figure skating ladies. During this period, she also took part in the World Championships. She celebrated her biggest success at the World Championships in Vienna in 1979, where she won the bronze medal behind the USA's Linda Fratianne and Anett Pötzsch from the GDR. It was the first World Cup medal for Japan in the women's competition. Watanabe represented Japan at two Winter Olympic Games. 1976 in Innsbruck, she was 13 and in Lake Placid 1980 they finished sixth.
