Emilia Bayer

Emilia Nicolova Bayer ( born May 5, 1934 in Sofia, Bulgaria) is a German sculptor.

Life

Emilia N. Bayer studied at the Academy of Arts in Sofia (Bulgaria) sculpture and ceramics and graduated in 1964 with a diploma. Since then she has worked as a freelance sculptor. At the same time she worked on applied graphic art, book design and typeface design.

After a short time received their work at national and international exhibitions and awards were bought from galleries and collections. In the early 1970s she won her first major work by participating in national competitions.

1973 - 1975 she created her main work in Bulgaria - the facade design with approx 250 m² reliefs with the theme of development of the play on the new building of the theater in Sofia, the Bulgarian capital. This work is considered to be a particularly successful synthesis between architecture and sculpture.

In 1975, his Emilia Bayer to Berlin ( GDR ). Again, she managed soon to make a name for himself as an artist - of which more than ten monumental sculptures testify in parks and public buildings. Climax - and at the same time the beginning of the end - was her winning the tender for the artistic facade design the new building of the Friedrichstadt-Palast (1982 - 1984). Of the originally planned 12 reliefs were finally six. Of these, four were realized. Then Emilia Bayer could no longer conclude contracts were canceled existing, she could no longer issue and received is a de facto labor and publication ban. When crystallized, this behavior of the authorities, presented the Bayer family moved a motion that was approved after four years - under the condition not to stay in West Berlin. The family first moved to Bavaria, returned after the fall of the Wall in Berlin and now lives in Bavaria.

As their way to their specialty - Kunst am Bau - was aborted by the reprisals to Emilia Bayer on new areas. Figural porcelain design, oil pastel and oil paintings have become in recent years their main activities.

To Emilia N. Bayer outstanding works include the six reliefs on the Friedrichstadt-Palast in Berlin. Further, as a particularly successful synthesis between architecture and sculpture, the 250 m² stone reliefs on the "Theatre Sofia " in Sofia, Bulgaria worth mentioning. They also created in the years 1978 - 1984 for more than ten large sculptures for parks and public buildings in Berlin.
