Émilie Mondor

Émilie Mondor ( born April 29, 1981 in Montreal, Canada, † September 9, 2006 in Hawkesbury, Ontario ) was a Canadian long-distance runner.

Mondor began running at the age of 14 years. Her career began in 1997 when she won the first Canadian title. Through this placement, she qualified for the IAAF World 1998 automatically Cross Country Championships, where she reached the tenth place. In 2001, she began studying at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby and was coached by Mike Lonergan. In the same year she reached the second place in the Canadian Cross Country Championships and won the 2002 Canadian title over 1500 meters. She also took part in the NAIA and was able to close the distance records here.

In 2003 she reached the thirteenth place at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships and was able to set a record over five kilometers in Canada. During the summer, she ran the first Canadian to ever 5000 meters under fifteen minutes and reached the twelfth place finish at the World Athletics Championships. Your first medal she won with the Canadian team at the 2004 World Cross Country Championships. This medal was the first for Canada since 1983. Already in 2004 she qualified for the Olympic Games in Athens and could reach the 17th place there. In 2005 she moved from Burnaby to Mammoth Lakes, California and trained there with Terrence Mahon.
