Emilio Q. Daddario

Emilio Quincy Daddario (* September 24, 1918 in Newton Centre, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, † July 7, 2010 in Washington, DC ) was an American politician of the Democratic Party and long-time deputy in the House of Representatives of the United States of Connecticut.

Biography

After school, he studied at Wesleyan University in Middletown. After a subsequent post-graduate studies in law at the Law School of the University of Connecticut, he worked as a lawyer. Shortly thereafter, he became a soldier in the U.S. Army and served during the Second World War in the Mediterranean. For his services he was awarded in addition to the Legion of Merit with valor of the Italian Silver Medal ( Medaglia d' Argento ).

After his return to the U.S. he was in 1946 elected at the age of 28 years as mayor of Middletown and has held this post until 1948. Subsequently, he was a judge at the Municipal Court ( Municipal Court ) of Middletown, before he then went back into the military service during the Korean War and as a member of the National Guard of Connecticut his service in the compound group in the Far East knew in Japan and South Korea. After his return he was again working as a lawyer.

1958 candidate Emilio Daddario as the representative of the Democratic Party for the parliamentary seat of the first congressional district of Connecticut. After his victory over the Republican deputies Edwin H. May, he was from 1959 to 1971 member of the U.S. House of Representatives for Connecticut. After his re- election in 1960, 1962, 1964, 1966 and 1968, he resigned in 1970 to re-election. Instead, he applied in 1970 as the Democratic candidate for the office of the governor of Connecticut, but was defeated by Republican Thomas Joseph Meskill.

After his subsequent resignation from politics Daddario was once again working as a lawyer. He died at the age of 91 on July 7, 2010 in Washington of a heart attack.
