Emmanuel Léopold Héré de Corny ( born October 12, 1705 Nancy, † February 2nd 1763 in Luneville, Meurthe -et -Moselle ) was an architect from Lorraine.

Life

Emmanuel Héré was the son of Henry and Elizabeth Paul Herrey ( spellings, Hayre, Herré ), a building contractor and migrants from Innsbruck. About the training of Emmanuel Héré exist no reliable information. The assumption Germain Boffrand could have taken his training to share, is not occupied.

In 1724 he was listed as an architect and in 1729 he worked in the building department in a Philippe Sigisbert CLERET, Jean -François Guesnon, Jean -Nicolas Jennesson and Jean -Nicolas Jadot subordinate position as a garde magazine, which is comparable with that of a Kondukteurs and Bausch Reibers. Héré married in 1729 Marguerite Duquesnoy in Luneville.

Upon arrival of Stanislaus I. Leszczynski Héré held the position of manager of the Royal Castle of Luneville ( capitaine et concierge du château royal de Luneville ), took over in 1737 the position Jennessons and in 1738 the chief architect (premier architecte de Sa majesté Polonaise ) of the former I. king of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania Stanislaus Leszczynski in the Duchy of Lorraine and bar appointed. This office he held until 1753.

From Luneville he directed the planning and expansion of the ducal palaces and parks, and was entrusted with the city planning projects. The building administration was responsible for the care of the buildings and parks of the castle Luneville, the castle COMMERCY, the castle Chanteheux, the Chateau de la Malgrange, the castle and the castle Einville Jolivet.

The best-known artists and artisans with whom Héré have worked in the construction of buildings, the sculptor Dieudonné - Barthélemy Guibal, Paul -Louis Cyfflé and Jean Girardet and metalsmith Jean Lamour. He was succeeded in 1753 his colleague Richard Mique, the 1775 position Ange-Jacques Gabriel as chief architect of the Kings Louis XV. and Louis XVI. took over.

A reconstruction of the work of Héré faces the problem of the loss of numerous primary sources. After the annexation of the Duchy of France in 1766, the existing archives were dissolved. Many of the written sources were lost. The association of Lorraine, France followed by the 1766 destruction of many plants on the orders of Louis XV. In this case, a large part of the work of Emmanuel Héré was lost.

Broadcast

Heres work was marked in particular by a number of smaller buildings, which originated within the gardens, in Lorraine. The ephemeral construction of garden buildings was a frequently encountered phenomenon of contemporary building in all of Europe. This design was a parallel in temporary fixed architectures of the 16th and 17th centuries. The particular circumstances of the client and the limitations of the funds available for the representation and maintenance of the status as King of Poland are an explanation for the construction of small inexpensive pavilions. Under current as unsoundness and their unusual language of form which did not correspond to the classical conception of architecture in France, the work heres were discredited long time. They were pejoratively referred to as style jésuite.

With the loss of the architectural work that followed the death of Stanislas I., heres fell contribution to the development of the French garden architecture into oblivion. Without the built in the gardens of Lorraine pavilions the Kiosk (1737), the Trèfle Pavilion ( 1738) or the pavilion of Chanteheux (1741 ) is an illustration of the further developments of the landscape park incomplete, also with regard to the works of William Chambers in English Landscape Park. Subsequent investments in Versailles as the (1762-1768) of Ange-Jacques Gabriel Petit Trianon built or planned in 1782 by Richard Mique Hameau developed out of the increasing need for privacy. The use of the 1753 built in Luneville Chartreuses made it a role model. In the manner of its use and its physical structure they were an expression of contemporary ideas - Voltaire and Montesquieu their "inhabitants".
