Emperor Angelfish

The Emperor Angelfish ( Pomacanthus imperator), called by seawater aquarium shortly Imperator, is a species of the genus Pomacanthus from the family of angelfish ( Pomacanthidae ). They are 40 inches long.

Dissemination

He lives in the Indo-Pacific from the Red Sea to Hawaii. Especially frequently it is in the northern Great Barrier Reef and around New Guinea. He preferred coral- rich outer reefs to a depth of 25 meters.

Behavior

Emperor angelfish live alone, in pairs or in threes. You can give grunts and thus scare away intruders from their territory.

Color change

Emperor angelfish make during their lifetime by a color change. As juveniles they are dark blue in color with white and light blue concentric rings whose center is located just before the tail. The pups were previously nicobariensis described as a separate species Pomacanthus.

Nutrition
