Emperor KÅtoku
Kōtoku (Japanese孝 徳 天皇, Kōtoku - tennō; born April 22, 596, † 24 November 654 ) was the 36th Tenno of Japan ( 645-654 ). Its proper name is unclear. He was a brother of Tennō Kōgyoku. Both were born of the same woman. They were great-grandson Emperor Bidatsus. His crown prince was Prince Nakano Ōe, the first son of the Emperor and Empress Jomei Kōgyoku.
His empress was Princess Hashimoto, a daughter of the Emperor Jomei and Kōgyoku, and sister of Prince Nakano Ōe and Ōama.
In his time, the Taika reforms fell.
