Empress Genshō

Empress Gensho (Japanese元 正 天皇, Gensho - tennō; * 680, † April 21 748 ) was the 44th Tenno of Japan ( 715-724 ).

She ruled in Heijo - kyō (now Nara ). She was a sister of the Emperor Mommu. She paused the throne until her nephew Crown Prince Obito grew up, which was the son of her late brother's early Mommu.
