Emre Can (chess player)

Emre Can [ ɛmrɛ dʒɑn ] ( born January 21, 1990 in Izmir) is a Turkish chess player.

Life

Emre Can a student at the private university Kadir Has in Fatih, a district of Istanbul.

Achievements

Tournaments

2011 Can won the Turkish Individual Championship with 8.5 points over 10 games. In February 2012, he won the B- tournament in Moscow Aeroflot Opens one point ahead. The tournament, he started with six points from their first six games.

For the Turkish junior national team he played in the U16 Olympiad 2003 in Denizli on the fourth board. For the Turkish national adult he played in the Chess Olympiad 2008 in Dresden on the second board, the Chess Olympiad 2010 in Khanty-Mansiysk on the third board and the Chess Olympiad 2012 in Istanbul on Reserve Board. In the World Team Championship in 2010 in Bursa, he played on the fourth, at the European Team Championship 2011 in Porto Carras on the second board. In the WTTC he played the rare Rosentreter Gambit against Gabriel Sargsyan.

Chess club he played at the European Club Cup 2004 in Izmir for the Eczacıbaşı SK on the first reserve board ( on first board played Şəhriyar Məmmədyarov ). When Club Cup 2007 in Kemer played Emre Can on the third board of the Türk Hava Yollari SK.

Title and rating

In January 2007 he received the title of International Master. The standards for this purpose, he scored at the Turkish Cup in March 2006 as well as two Russian Tournaments: a GM tournament in Dubna in August 2006, where he finished the shared sixth place, and when Petrovskaya - Ladna -GM tournament in Peterhof in August the same year.

Grand Master he is since September 2010. Required standards he reached the Valoz Cup, a GM -A tournament of the Olomouc summer in July 2007, when Kahraman - Olgaç Memorial in Konya in July 2009 ( a double round tournament with six participants ), and defeated in the Tarrasch Variation of the French Defence in world Team Championship in Bursa in January 2010, when he was able to get 3.5 points from 7 games and Yury Shulman. The title was not requested already for July 2010, which required Elo had Emre Can, but only two months later.

His Elo rating is 2469 (as of July 2012), he is so on the seventh place of the Turkish Elo ranking. His previous highest Elo rating was 2500 in September 2010.
