Energy Globe Award

The Energy Globe Award is an environmental award the Energy Globe Foundation. This project will be awarded with a focus on energy efficiency, resource conservation and use of renewable energies.

This " World Award for Sustainability" is awarded in the categories earth, fire (energy ), Water, Air and Youth. The Energy Globe was created by an initiative in Austria into being in 2000. It is awarded as regional, national and international award annually.

The objective of the Energy Globe Award is to create an awareness for solving environmental problems and show that everyone can make a positive contribution. As examples, the Energy Globe winning projects are intended to be presented on the website and in the Energy Globe database world. The first prize in the international award is endowed with 10,000 euros per category.

The Energy Globe winning projects will be awarded at festive events and presented in the media and on television worldwide. The international awards have been carried out in the plenary of the European Parliament in Brussels in 2007 and 2008. 2009, the Energy Globe Gala as a kick-off event of the EU Environment Ministers meeting in Prague. Established in 2010, Energy Globe jointly with UNEP World Environment Day in Rwanda. 2011 a record number of over 1,000 projects from 110 countries were submitted. A total of 6,000 projects were submitted to the Energy Globe yet.

Chairman of the Energy Globe Jury is the Indian parliamentarian Maneka Gandhi, former Indian Minister of Environment.

International personalities such as Kofi Annan, Mikhail Gorbachev, President of the EU Parliament and the EU Commission and stars such as Martin Sheen, Peter Falk, Aamir Khan, Alanis Morissette, Dionne Warwick, Zucchero or Robin Gibb put themselves at the service of the Energy Globe.
