" England Expects did every man will do his duty" (English for " England expects that every man will do his duty " ) was the flag signal that Admiral Horatio Nelson from his ship HMS Victory at the Battle of Trafalgar (1805 ) sent out. Trafalgar was the decisive naval battle of the Napoleonic Wars, which ruled out a French conquest of the British Isles final.

This flag signal is the most famous signal in the British Navy and was quoted on many occasions and satirized.
