Enrico Cosenz

Enrico Cosenz ( born January 12, 1820 Gaeta, † September 28, 1898 in Rome ) was an Italian general.

Cosenz joined in 1840 as an officer in the Neapolitan army, moved to Northern Italy with this 1848 and remained after their return home in Venice, at the stubborn defense against the Austrians, he took a prominent part.

After the handover of Venice in 1849, he lived in poverty as a colonel in Turin. In 1859, he appeared as a Major in the Alpini Corps Garibaldi, took 1860 as commander of the third volunteer expedition in the wake of Garibaldi to Sicily in part, distinguished himself in the battle of Milazzo and was under the dictatorship of Garibaldi in Naples minister of war.

In 1861 he appeared as a lieutenant general in the Italian army, commanded a division for a long time, then the 1st Army Corps in Turin and in 1881 was appointed head of the newly organized General Staff. He was for several years a member of the Chamber of Deputies, in which he sat on the right. Since 1872 he was a senator.

1882 Cosenz Chief of the General Staff and finally joined in 1893 to retire. Cosenz became the most learned officer in Italy.

Einrico Cosenz died on 28 September 1898 in Rome.
