Enrique de Lucas

Enrique de Lucas Martínez (born 21 February 1979 in L' Hospitalet de Llobregat ) is a Spanish football player.

Playing career

Espanyol and abroad

Enrique de Lucas began his career as a footballer at Espanyol Barcelona. Like many others, he also emerged from the excellent youth work of the Catalans. After two seasons at Espanyol B de Lucas played from 1998 to 2002 in Espanyol's first team. In 2000, de Lucas won with Espanyol Copa del Rey following a 2-1 final win over the favored Atlético Madrid. During his time at Espanyol de Lucas was on loan to the French first division and Paris Saint- Germain. However, he came in Ligue 1, only four are used. Through his consistently good performances Enrique de Lucas could recommend for the English top team Chelsea, for whom he played in 2002/ 03.

Return to Spain

In the summer of 2003, de Lucas opted for a return to Spain. From the fourth in the Premier League, it was for him to the Spanish second division side Deportivo Alavés, which was relegated last year. In the first season (2003/ 04), the Catalan reached with his team to fourth place and failed very narrowly ascent. In later Alavés was luckier than others.
