Enrique Peña Nieto

Enrique Peña Nieto ( born July 20, 1966 in Atlacomulco, Estado de México ) is, since December 1, 2012 as President of Mexico and a politician of the Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI; German Institutional Revolutionary Party ) and a former Governor of the State of México (2005 to 2011).

Life

Enrique Peña Nieto was born the eldest of four siblings and comes from an influential family of politicians. Even as a high school student he decided to go into politics. Among other things, clad five of his relatives, the governorship of the most populous Mexican state of México.

Peña Nieto studied law at the Universidad Panamericana and made at the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey a Masters in Business Administration. After working in various ministries of the State of Mexico, he was elected to Congress in Mexico City in 2003. In 2005 he won the election for Governor of the State of Mexico, after he was discovered by the former incumbent Arturo Montiel and built as a successor. The Office held Peña Nieto to 2011. During this time corruption cases against Montiel were set at the same time Peña Nieto's tenure was marked by several judicial scandals and human rights abuses.

Beginning of 2012 was selected for the presidential election in early July 2012 Peña Nieto without internal rivals as the leading candidate of the Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI ). In his election campaign he was backed by the largest Mexican television station Televisa. Parts of the population demonstrated against his candidacy and accused him of corruption. Nevertheless, Peña Nieto won the presidential election in Mexico against Andrés Manuel López Obrador ( PRD), despite a study conducted on action López Obrador's recount of more than half of the votes on suspicion of vote-rigging. He took office on December 1, 2012 by Felipe Calderón ( PAN). Critics see Peña Nieto a puppet of the under suspicion of corruption earlier PRI rulers Carlos Salinas de Gortari and Jorge Hank, former mayor of Tijuana.

Enrique Peña Nieto is married since 2010 in second marriage with the famous Mexican actress Angélica Rivera, acquired through performances in telenovelas of Televisa awareness. His first wife Mónica Pretelini had died of an epileptic seizure in 2007. From this marriage three children were born. He is also the father of two illegitimate children by two former lover.
