Features

The wingspan of the butterfly is 26 to 44 millimeters. The basic color of all wings is pure white to creamy white. On the fore wings a wavy limited on both sides, brownish Postdiskalregion takes off. The same color is a region near the blade root, but does not reach the inner edge. These dark regions are sometimes dusted lightly pink. The ring stain is very thin edged blackish, the kidneys blemish is black brown and goes into the Postdiskalregion. The hind wings are slightly darkened at the edges.

Caterpillar, and chrysalis

Full-grown caterpillars have a yellow-white color. They are provided on each segment with a row of black point warts.

The pupa is reddish brown, has a long cremaster, which ends in two short points. It overwinters in a cocoon spun with sand grains.

Similar Species

The very similar Enterpia roseocandida Hacker, 1996 is distinguished by the usually somewhat stronger pink Überstäubung the front upper wing surface.

Distribution and habitat

Enterpia laudeti arrives in Europe in four mutually isolated areas before: in the triangle of France, Italy and Switzerland (Valais), in central Spain, on the Balkan Peninsula and in the northern mountains of Turkey. In the Alps, it rises to around 1500 meters. The further spread eastwards includes Russia, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. In the Near and Middle East, the subspecies Enterpia laudeti orientis and Enterpia laudeti roseomarginata are encountered. The species is found in steppes and dry, stony rocky regions.

Way of life

The moths of Enterpia laudeti fly from April to June in one generation. Rarely, a second generation be released in September. They are predominantly diurnal, visit at night as well as artificial light sources. The caterpillars live on the flowers and seeds of gypsophila ( Gypsophila ) or campion species ( Silene ). The pupa overwinters.
