Enver Duran

Enver Duran ( born June 19, 1945 in Bursa) is a Turkish professor of medicine, specialist in cardiac surgery, he was Rector of Trakya University, Edirne, 2004-2012 (July).

Life

Duran grew up in Bursa, where he (1960-1963) visited the Resit Pasha - Primary School (1951-1956), the Osmangazi Primary School (1956-1960) and the high school Bursa until graduation in 1963. In 1963 he began the study of medicine at the University of Ankara and graduated in 1969. Then he was at the Gülhane Military Academy of Medicine in Ankara initially worked as a doctor. 1971-1973 he worked as the head physician in a hospital catering in Izmir. 1973-1977 he worked as an assistant at the Gülhane Military Academy of Medicine in Ankara in the Department of General Surgery. After he had completed his training at the Department of General Surgery, 1977-1980, he was employed as a cardiac surgeon and an assistant professor of cardiothoracic and thoracic vascular surgery at the Gülhane Military Academy of Medicine in Ankara. On April 16, 1985, he received his professorship in the Department of Cardiac and thoracic Vascular Surgery at Hacettepe University. After that he was from 1985-1990 as a lecturer at the Gülhane Military Academy of Medicine in the Department of Surgery for Heart and Chest vessel in Ankara worked there and earned his professorship. 1990-1998 he was director of the university clinic Haydar Pasha Gülhane Military Academy of Medicine in the Department of Surgery for cardiac and vascular surgery. 1998-2004 he worked as Head of the Department of Cardiac and thoracic vascular surgery at the Medical Faculty of Trakya University.

In 2004, Duran was appointed Rector of Trakya University. On July 28, 2006 at the 55th annual meeting of university rectors Duran was elected for 2 years as Chairman of the Council of Turkish universities. At the same time, he led the 2006-2007 Namik Kemal Üniversitesi Rectorate of Tekirdag and 2007-2008 and the Rectorate of Kırklareli Üniversitesi. Since 2008, Enver Duran is also Chairman of the Inter-University Association for medical and health science education in Turkey.

2008, by the extension of his re-election at the Trakya University Rectorate time until 2012. Enver Duran was elected by the members of the Council for Universities as Chairman of the Medical Council of Turkey.

On the initiative of Rector Duran following projects and institutions were initiated at the Trakya University:

  • Opening of the Department of Balkan languages ​​and corresponding agreements with partner universities. Under the umbrella of this section there are courses for the following languages ​​: Albanian, Armenian, Bosnian, Bulgarian, Greek, Romanian and Russian.
  • The " Germany meeting place ", a project that is funded by the Robert -Bosch Foundation and professionally supervised by the Goethe Institute, was opened in cooperation with the Trakya University,
  • A project on a technology park for start-ups is started and will be continued,
  • The Balkan Congress Centre of the University expanded,
  • Distance learning TUZEM established
  • The Erasmus relationship with the University of Cooperative Education Lörrach together with Bernd Martin and Manfred Raupp initiated in 2005 and expanded
  • That belongs to the university health museum " Sultan Beyazit II " further expanded and made ​​available to the general public again accessible,
  • The former medical school founded in 1488 has been restored as a new part of the museum and opened,
  • Founded the dance group "Balkan folklore Gençlik atesi ve Dans Topluluğu " (dance group Young Flame of Balkan folk dances ), which lists modern dance and folk dances from the Balkan culture,
  • With the support of her successful team the journal of Medicine, Trakya University, under which the other medical faculties, the first magazine that has been awarded with the scientific criteria for SCI -Expanded, was

Duran was 2010 President and host to the Conference of the Balkan Universities and Vice- President of the World Congress of the Universities in Canakkale. His successor as Rector of Trakya University since August 2012 Yener Yörük.

Enver Duran is married to the Turkish author Duran Mine, has two children and lives in Edirne.
