Environmental chamber

An air chamber is a test chamber, or a component of a measuring arrangement and serves for the generation and maintenance of a specified climate, the control temperature and humidity, for the time duration of the measurement or testing. In contrast, a climate cabinet is used for storage of a commodity at a constant temperature and humidity over a longer period of storage.

Air chambers can also be used for environmental simulations.

In the so-called climate tests and climate change tests periodically temperature or humidity can change during the test. These tests are often used for quality control of products for the simulation of storage or aging processes, as well as to demonstrate that a product with in a particular climate is functional ( in the heat and high humidity in the tropics, for example ).

Due to the importance of many of these tests are carried out in the calibrated air chambers.

An air chamber has a nominal volume, indicating the enclosure volume in the rule. Other characteristics of environmental chambers are the speeds at which the change of temperature and humidity is possible as well as the maximum and minimum values of the producible temperatures and humidities.
