Enzo Bianco

Enzo Bianco ( born February 24, 1951 in Aidone, Enna Province ) is an Italian politician of the Partito Repubblicano Italiano (PRI ) and La Margherita - Democrazia è Libertà.

Life

Mayor of Catania and deputy

After schooling Bianco studied law and was after graduation ( Degree ) of the study in 1975 as a lawyer in Catania and then from 1976 to 1982 as a management consultant and financial expert at the Consorzio di Credito per le Opere specilized ( CREDIOP ), a public Kreditanstalt, works.

In addition, Bianco was between 1976 and 1979 Member of the Board of the youth wing of the PRI ( Federazione Nazionale dei Giovani Repubblicani ) and from 1980 to 1984 foreign policy spokesman of the PRI. Between 1983 and 1988 he was a representative of an engineering firm that has worked in America, Asia and Africa.

After his return he became in 1988 a member of the City Council, and between July 1988 and November 1989 Mayor of Catania, before in 1991 he was elected a member of the Sicilian Regional Assembly ( Assemblea regional siciliana ).

On April 23, 1992, he was elected as a candidate of the PRI for the first time a member of the Camera dei deputati ( Chamber of Deputies ). There he represented until 14 September 1993 the constituency Catania and was then from June 1993 to January 2000 again mayor of Catania.

Interior Minister and Senator

After several years of renewed activity as a lawyer and business consultant, he was on 22 December 1999 Minister of the Interior in the government of Prime Minister Massimo D' Alema and holding office in the subsequent government of Giuliano Amato to 10 June 2001. On 4 June 2001, he was elected a member of the party La Margherita - then again elected Democrats è Libertà to a member of the House of Representatives and represented there until April 2006, the constituency XXV of Sicily. During this time he was between August 2001 and April 2006, President of the Parliamentary Committee for the Intelligence and Security Service and the secret police.
