The Provence- seat cricket ( Ephippiger provincialis ) is a species of the subfamily of Bradyporinae.
Features
The animals are 28 to 41 millimeters in body length, the largest representatives of their subfamily in Europe. They have a light brown or reddish body coloration, rarely they are green. The very short and wide Cerci of males have an inner tooth, which is the same length and width as the final tooth. For all other types of semi- horror is significantly less pronounced. The subgenital plate of the female is cut back around the front on both sides and has a beaded collection. The nearly straight ovipositor ( ovipositor ) is rarely shorter than 25 millimeters.
Occurrence
The species is endemic and occurs only in the southern parts of the Maritime Alps, between St. Tropez and Marseille. The animals usually sit on the floor or on low plants. The adults can be found from June to August.
Way of life
Occasionally there may be outbreaks in the Provence- seat cricket.
