Eppeville

Eppeville is a commune with 1841 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Somme in the Picardie region of northern France. The municipality is part of the Canton of Ham, and is part of the Communauté de communes du Pays Hamois.

Geography

The coalesced with Ham community forms the south-western part of the agglomeration of the cantonal capital of Ham ( Somme) in the south of here canalized Somme. It extends west to the creek Allemagne. The railway line from Amiens to Laon it pervades, the railway station of Ham is in the field of the neighboring community Muille -Villette. To Eppeville part of the district of Verlaine.

History

The municipality received the Croix de guerre as a distinction from 1914 to 1918.

Attractions

  • The La pierre qui pousse ( growing stone) called 27 m long stone setting in the marshes ( marais ); classified as a monument historique since 1992.
  • Built by Georges Lisch sugar factory from the period after the First World War, with associated housing settlement.
