Erbach Castle

Erbach Castle stands on a hill near the town of Erbach in Alb- Donau-Kreis. In the building is a patrician Renaissance castle, which today is to Ulm- Erbach in the possession of the Barons.

History

The today known as Schlossberg hill was built before the palace with a castle to save the formerly important Danube crossing. After several plot changes, the deposit fief to Hans von Erbach paumgarten from an Augsburg patrician family was transferred in 1534. The construction of the castle we see today was started in 1550 by Hans Georg von paumgarten and completed around 1555.

1612 was Hans Ludwig von Ulm lord of Erbach. One no longer existing Lustgarten has been added after the Thirty Years' War. Modifications were made in the 18th century due to the residence of the Barons of Ulm in Günzburg as good as no longer so today's external appearance of the mid-16th century equivalent.

Buildings

The castle is applied closely to the patrician architecture of cities, in particular, the stepped gable and gabled roofs to point out. Access is via a drawbridge classic followed gatehouse. The subsequent courtyard surrounded by stables and farm buildings. There is a draw-well in it. At the end of the great hall is the baroque castle chapel.

On the staircase several rooms are accessible. The Renaissance Rooms in 1884 the last time changed. Next to him are still the little smoking-room, the Maria- Theresia- salon, the Brown Salon, the Red Salon and a clergyman Salon worth mentioning.
