ERDAS Imagine

ERDAS IMAGINE is a software tool for the analysis of remote sensing data, especially of graphics and pictures. It analyzes raster graphics and was developed by the U.S. company ERDAS Inc. for geostatistical and Geoanalytical applications. The program allows the processing of digital remote sensing data for GIS or CAD.

Functions

The software analyzes raster graphics and is designed specifically for geostatistical and Geoanalytical applications. 2010 appeared the version 10.1. ERDAS IMAGINE allows the processing of digital remote sensing data and digitized aerial photographs and the like for GIS or CAD.

Graphics and pictures can be provided by ERDAS IMAGINE with a geocoding, that is, they are equalized and thus geographic coordinates assigned to ( geo-referenced ). The program has filters for contrast stretching, can make color coding and classifications. In addition, a wide variety of results can be generated by arithmetic operations from the image data, especially in multi-temporal observation of areas this is necessary (monitoring).

In addition to the analysis of remote sensing data, this software can also convert data into spatial models. By clicking on ' Map Composition module ", the results of the analyzes in 2D, 3D, and will be implemented in movies and high-quality cards.

User

ERDAS IMAGINE is mainly used in professional - institutionalized area. The German aerospace center DLR operates, for example with the software. The program is used in the civilian sector, among others, in the macro- ecology and the development of research.

Basically, the program offers many application areas. Examples of the wide variety of uses are scientific questions, such as after land use mapping, analysis of climatic observations of the oceans ( oceanography ), the ecological impact of aquatic ecosystems ( limnology ) and large-scale forestry issues (forest inventory, forest dieback ). In addition, morphological and structural - morphological ( geological ) questions can be edited. In addition, the software provides an extensive rain forest monitoring and other applications in the field of space science.
