Eric II, Duke of Mecklenburg

Eric II, Duke of Mecklenburg, ( born September 3, 1483December 22, 1508 ) was Duke of Mecklenburg.

Life

Erich was the fourth child and second son of the Duke Magnus II and his wife Sophie of Pomerania. He wrote at April 17, 1494 to study at the University of Rostock, and was three times Honorary Rector of the University. From 1502 to early 1504 he undertook, accompanied by Hinrich Boger a trip to Italy. After the death of his father on December 27, 1503, he ruled jointly with his brothers Henry V. and Albert and his uncle Balthasar in the Duchy of Mecklenburg. The latter died on 16 March 1507. Erich himself probably died on December 21 or December 22, 1508. He was buried in Doberan in the Doberan Minster. He never married and died childless.
